About Me
Glass Lake Counseling & Alexander Rascovar
Hello! I’m Alex
Licensed Therapist
I pride myself on joining my patients so that they can feel safe while undoing the burden of suffering alone. My work explores emotional states that might arise and together we may discover the wisdom that these spaces present. I am a believer in the healing power of relationships and mindfulness. Slowing down can often show us the answers that we yearn for and help us to find our most creative way of being in the world. I believe that all people have the right to heal regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity or sexual orientation.
My Approach & Values
I focus on caring for my patients. I’m fortunate to love what I do and truly care about my patients.
Prior to working as a therapist, I spent nearly a decade in the arts. In my free time I enjoy Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and weight lifting!
My Mission Statement for Therapy
I believe that as a culture we are affect phobic. We are asked to become mini robots often at the expense of our human existence and this is a problem. We exist in a world where often times our true feelings are inconvnenant and we treat these experiences as a problem, rather than as a key to unlock our true human experience. This comes at a tremendous cost of feeling anxious or worried, when if we actually learn to roll with our feelings we can feel more alive and can gain entry to joy. My goal is to help people awaken to their true experience and send them out into the world to help others through modeling that our optimal human experience isn’t about disconnecting from our feelings but connecting to them and embracing them. Eventually greater understanding of ourselves in the world emerges and we feel bolstered by our humanity rather than it’s journey as a hindrance. I find that when people embrace all parts of themselves they find peace, joy and love. Our feelings aren’t the only source of information but to not have them messes us up.
